Partnership for App-Based Patient Support Programmes
THE CHALLENGE:
People with migraines find it difficult to keep track of their headaches and how they are changing over time, whilst doctors need to observe the tangible benefits of treatment over three months (according to NICE) to help make a clinical decision.
THE SOLUTION:
The Rain Free Days app gathers patient data whenever they record a headache. Patients can use the dashboard to see how their condition is changing over time and can share a report with their specialist. Resources on the app are regularly updated for user retention. During the initial design phase, we realised how much colour affects people with migraines and so we carried out a colour survey in partnership with Dulux, the National Migraine Centre and TEVA.
OUTCOMES/IMPACT:
Over 1,200 people took part and the results were used by Dulux to develop a migraine-friendly paint palette. Around 1,000 people in the UK currently use the app, logging in 3 times a week.
